Percentage Change in Mass
Calculating percentage change is a fundamental math skill in Biology, especially for the osmosis practical.
A potato goes from 2.0g to 2.2g. What is the % change?
What is Percentage Change in Mass?
"Percentage change in mass is a calculation used to quantify how much the weight of a specimen has changed relative to its starting weight."
Which answer best completes the statement? The nucleus contains ____ and controls the cell
Why are cultures in school laboratories usually incubated at about 25°C rather than 37°C?
Which change would increase the rate of diffusion?
Which answer best completes the statement? The permanent vacuole is filled with ____
Calculations
Use the formula: (Change in Value / Original Value) x 100.
If the final mass is lower, the result is negative (a percentage loss).
Plotting these on a graph allows you to find the "isotonic" point (no mass change).
The isotonic point on a graph is where the line crosses the x-axis (0% change).
