Origins of Species

Alfred Russel Wallace worked on warning coloration in animals and helped develop the theory of speciation.

Geographical isolation: A population becomes separated by a physical barrier (e.g., mountains, sea).

Natural selection occurs independently in each population until they can no longer interbreed.

Wallace is often forgotten, but he independently came to the same conclusions as Darwin and they published together in 1858.
