Electrical Circuit Symbols | GCSE Physics Practice

Standardized symbols allow scientists to draw and understand circuit diagrams universally.

What is the symbol for a fuse?

What is Electrical Circuit Symbols | Practice?

"Standardized graphical representations used to represent various electrical and electronic devices."

Question 1

What is the unit of electrical resistance?

Question 2

Misconception: When a circuit is closed, the 'spent' current returns to the battery.

Question 3

Calculate the charge flow if a 3A current flows for 10 seconds.

Question 4

Current is the rate of flow of ____.

Symbol Guide

Cells have a long line (+) and short line (-). Batteries are multiple cells.

Fixed resistors (rectangle) vs Variable resistors (rectangle with diagonal arrow).

LDRs have circles with arrows pointing in; LEDs have arrows pointing out.

Ammeters must be in series; Voltmeters must be in parallel.

Exam Tip

Exam Skill: If you see a circle with an X, it's a lamp (bulb). If the circle has a V or A, it's a measuring instrument.
